The Chicago White Sox currently reside in second place in the American League Central and own one of the Wild Card spots in the AL.
This is totally unexpected for the White Sox, and the 2026 season has been a surprising one so far. Now, with under two months to go until the MLB trade deadline, it's fair to wonder what they'll do this year.
Many predictions have the White Sox as sellers, but MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com shared a different "realistic" report for the White Sox trade deadline plans, which should have fans very excited.
White Sox 'realistic' trade deadline report is exciting one
"The thought of the Chicago White Sox buying at the trade deadline is increasingly realistic, and general manager Chris Getz confirmed as much on MLB Network by saying it's a possibility," Murray writes.
While the full extent of what this trade deadline buying might entail isn't known, just the fact that the White Sox might be adding talent at the August 3 deadline is a win.
This team has been one of the more frequent sellers in recent years, and for things to all of a sudden trend toward buying talent at the deadline is the exact kind of report fans can get excited about.

If they do end up buying, instead of trying to add a rental option, it might make more sense to add someone who will be under club control through the 2027 season as well.
Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins would fit the bill as a big splash this season, who could also factor into the 2027 team as well.
Controllable starting pitching might top the list of the White Sox's needs this season at the trade deadline, and there's sure to be some interesting names worth exploring this summer beyond Alcantara.
