Where Was Rose Byrne's Husband Bobby Cannavale During Golden Globes

Sobbing Teyana Taylor Sends Message to "Little Brown Girls" After Golden Globes Win

Bobby Cannavale might be kicking himself now.

The Ant-Man star unfortunately missed his partner Rose Byrne's big win at the 2026 Golden Globes on Jan. 11—for a very unexpected reason.

After Byrne took home the trophy for Best Female Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy for her role in If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You, she shouted out Cannavale and poked fun at his absence.

"I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale," she said at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. "He couldn't be here because we're getting a bearded dragon, and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey. So, thank you, baby." (See all the winners here.)

The Bridesmaids star—who's been dating Cannavale since 2012—recently joked about his prior commitment.

“He can’t come, which is such a bummer,” the 46-year-old said during her Jan. 8 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “This expo is the place to go.”

Still, Byrne said she's "on board" with getting a new pet for their sons Rocco, 9, and Rafael, 8.

“I think they’re gorgeous,” she quipped. “I think they eat live crickets. I had a friend who had one and she said that crickets do escape sometimes.”

Needless to say, the actress was more enthusiastic about her Golden Globes win, though she revealed in her speech that she "didn't prepare anything" because she didn't expect to win over Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee) and Emma Stone (Bugonia).

"This is such a shock," Byrne said. "I share this with Mary Bronstein, my writer/director. She wrote this unbelievable screenplay, and she wanted me to do it, and I can't believe that you wanted me to do it, that you're just the best and I love you."

She added to the whole production team, "Thank you for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. We shot this movie in 25 days for like $8.50. This is a tiny film, so this is a huge thing to be up here."
