Champions League competition is heating up — Roma and Real Madrid are getting ready for a high-stakes showdown at Stadio Olimpico this week.
Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is returning Roma to Europe's most elite club competition for the first time in eight years. The Giallorossi have gotten out to a slow start otherwise, with a draw against Fenerbahce to open Champions League, and two more against Inter and Como in Serie A.
Real Madrid is heading into this fixture on a high note after defeating Villarreal 1-0 on Saturday, with star signing Yan Diomande scoring his debut goal for the club. While their recent travel record hasn't been great, Los Blancos are historically dominant against Italian opponents in Champions League play.
