Man Utd vs. Southampton lineups, team news

United's spot kick success over Arsenal came at a cost for Amorim with Diogo Dalot now serving a one-game ban after being sent off at the Emirates Stadium.

Amorim will also make a check on a host of players who battled through 120 minutes in North London but he has not confirmed any fresh injury news.

Marcus Rashford could be included, if he recovers from illness, but with his future unconfirmed, the England star is not expecting a recall

Mason Mount, Jonny Evans Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are all out with Amad Diallo tipped to replace Dalot in an attacking line-up.

Man Utd predicted XI (3-4-3, right to left): Onana (GK) — Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez — Amad Diallo, Mainoo, Ugarte, Malacia — Fernandes, Hojlund, Garnacho.

Injured: Mount (thigh), Shaw (calf), Lindelof, Evans (both muscle), Rashford (illness, doubtful).
Suspended: Dalot.

Southampton will come into this game with some confidence after securing an FA Cup win over Swansea City to set up a Fourth Round tie with Burnley next month.

However, their immediate focus is on the Premier League relegation battle, with Juric's charges currently 10 points away from safety and needing a miracle in 2025.

Midfield duo Flynn Downes and Ross Stewart are expected to miss out through injury with center-back Jack Stephens sidelined until February with a persistent dead leg.

Southampton predicted XI (3-5-2 right to left): Ramsdale (GK) — Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis, Wood — Walker-Peters, Fernandes, Aribo,  Ugochukwu, Manning — Dibling, Armstrong.

Injured: Stephens (leg), Downes (thigh, doubtful), Stewart (acalf, doubtful).
Suspended: None

Man Utd vs. Southampton prediction

Manchester United are favourites to beat Southampton on Friday. The Red Devils will take a lot of confidence from their victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup. However, there will also be some tired players for the home side as they come into the tie after playing 120 minutes of football.

Though they won their FA Cup tie over the weekend, Southampton are underdogs going into their clash against United. The Saints have been the worst side in the Premier League so far having won just the solitary match.

United have taken their time to adapt to new coach Ruben Amorim’s tactics. In Southampton, the Red Devils face the perfect team to get a big result against.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-0 Southampton
