What is Eurovision?

Eurovision is an annual songwriting contest organized by the European Broadcasting Union. At the time of its creation, it was meant to bring a war-torn Europe back together through music. Now, 70 years later, it is one of the most beloved events across the continent.

Many Eurovision winners have gone on to achieve international success, including Celine Dion who represented Switzerland in 1988, Italy's Måneskin in 2021, and of course, ABBA in 1974 who won with their smash hit "Waterloo".

This year, 35 different countries are competing, from Europe and beyond. Each have submitted a song to represent their country, which will be performed live in front of a panel of music industry experts. The experts, along with live viewer votes, will decide the 2026 winner.
