The Kansas Chiefs enter the 2026 preseason with quarterback Patrick Mahomes working tirelessly to return from a December ACL and LCL tear.
Mahomes may be healed in time for Week 1, though Kansas City may consider holding him out of preseason action for the first time in his career.
Besides Mahomes, all eyes will be on how the offense looks with Kenneth Walker in the backfield. Rashee Rice should be ready to go too after his tumultuous offseason that included knee surgery and a stint in jail. Veteran tight end Travis Kelce is back, too, for another season after getting married to Taylor Swift this offseason.
The Chiefs lost their top two cornerbacks to the Rams this offseason after trading Trent McDuffie and seeing Jaylen Watson sign with Los Angeles. However, Kansas City quickly replaced both in the draft with No. 6 overall pick Mansoor Delane and fourth-rounder Jadon Canady. The Chiefs also drafted defensive tackle Peter Woods in the first round to play alongside Chris Jones on the defensive front.
