While the spotlight has been on the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, the ATP Tour now shifts its focus to the European swing. Some players are heading to Austria for the Vienna Open, while others will take to the courts at Switzerland's St. Jakobshalle for the Swiss Indoors Basel.
The main attractions in Basel this week are American stars Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton. Ranked fourth and sixth globally, respectively, both are considered strong contenders for the title.
Fritz has earned plaudits for his improved speed and agility, with many tipping him to challenge top names like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the near future. Shelton, however, comes with some caution due to a lingering shoulder issue, raising questions about whether the injury might flare up again, as noted by Pam Shriver.
Other big names in the draw include world No. 10 Holger Rune, who also competed at last year’s Six Kings Slam, and world No. 12 Casper Ruud. Additionally, several top-20 players are set to feature, such as Félix Auger-Aliassime, Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Wildcard Valentin Vacherot will also be in action, buoyed by his impressive triumph at the Shanghai Masters earlier this month.
The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all you need to know to ensure you don't miss a minute of the action.
