In a recent interview with Z100’s Crystal Dal Sas at the Celsius Energy Lounge, Madison Beer named her personal “Mount Rushmore” of pop girls — listing Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Tate McRae, Lana Del Rey, and Billie Eilish among her top contemporary artists.

The interview, recorded as part of Beer's promotion for her upcoming album MB3 (Locket), quickly sparked online discussion for who made, and didn’t make, her list.

Many fans reacted with surprise that names like Rihanna, Beyoncé nad Lady Gaga did not make it to the list.

The way only 3 of them deserve to be named… (where’s Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Taylor??)

No Beyonce, Taylor, Britney, Madonna, Janet, literally any influential pop girl of the last 30 years. Yet Tate, Billie, and Sab are there??? (No shade to Sab or Billie bc they're good but MOUNT RUSHMORE???)

No Rihanna yet she had a Stan account for her…

However, many came to Madison's defense, saying that the negative reactions and questions were uncalled for since the singer was simply stating her personal opinion.

yall mad at her over HER opinion and thoughts. keyword being *HER*.god yall are so slow sometimes

these are the artists that influence her music. LISTEN TO HER MUSIC! she won’t be kissing any of your fave’s a** just because they are relevant or a “legend” or whatever. t

people in the comments pulling a muscle bc their fav wasn't mentioned

Madison Beer talks about icons, her new album, and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The “Mount Rushmore” conversation took place during a wide-ranging 20-minute interview where Madison Beer discussed her creative process, stage experiences, and the making of her new album, MB3, titled Locket.

Beer explained that her choices reflect the artists currently inspiring her and dominating her playlists, saying each of them

"are the most in my life currently that I'm listening to, obsessed with."

The singer said that she has Sabrina Carpenter's songs on loop, and was "gagged" at Tate McRae’s live performances. She also praised Ariana Grande as her “permanent queen,” and credited Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish for their artistry and influence.

Talking about the upcoming album, Madison Beer described Locket as her most personal and cohesive record to date, saying it “feels like the most me thing I’ve ever done.” She confirmed that the project, which has no features, is complete and due for release soon, adding that she hopes fans will “feel the same way I do.”

Madison Beer also took a moment early on in the interview to talk about her recent performance at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15, 2025, which she described as both “petrifying” and “amazing.” She also discussed preparing choreography with her team and debuting new songs, including Bittersweet and Yes Baby.

More about Madison Beer's upcoming album

Madison Beer has officially announced her third studio album, Locket, set for release on January 16, 2026, via Epic Records. The singer shared the news on Instagram on October 22, 2025, unveiling the album’s cover art, which was a portrait of Beer holding a golden, heart-shaped locket.

Calling the project her “world” and saying she’s “never been so proud or excited” about a release, the pop star wrote in the caption,

"Locket, my new album, will be yours 1.16... I really can’t believe I am saying this"

In a press statement quoted by Billboard on October 22, 2025, Beer said the album’s title stems from a metaphor,

"After writing the album, it feels like each song lives within this metaphorical locket for safekeeping."

She added that each album marks the close of a personal chapter, suggesting Locket represents a new creative era for her.

The record follows the success of the 2023 hit Silence Between Songs, which reached No. 86 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Immersive Audio Album.

This time, Beer set the stage for Locket with three singles, namely Yes Baby, Bittersweet, and Make You Mine. In an interview with Vogue on October 22, 2025, she described the album as a “roller coaster” of emotions, with upbeat yet deeply emotional tracks.
