The first-ever national championship to cap off the 12-team College Football Playoff will kick off Monday evening. Ohio State will face Notre Dam for a shot at winning it all.

The Buckeyes defeated Tennessee, Oregon and Texas in the first three rounds. Notre Dame defeated Indiana, Georgia and Penn State. Both teams had to rebound from some tough losses earlier in the season to get to this point.

Ohio State lost on the road to Oregon earlier in the season, losing 32-31 in Eugene, and fell 13-10 at home to rival Michigan. The Buckeyes avenged its regular-season loss against the Ducks with a 41-21 thrashing in the Rose Bowl semifinal. Notre Dame suffered a shocking Week 2 home loss to Northern Illinois out of the MAC, but didn't lose a game the rest of the season.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman will be looking to lead the Irish to their first national title since 1988, and the Irish will be appearing in is first national title game since the 2012-13 season. The Buckeyes last won a national title during the 2014-15 season, the first year of the four-team playoff. Ohio State also played in the national title game against Alabama in 2020, losing 52-24.

Let's take a look at which venue will host college football's final game of the 2024-25 season to crown a national champion.
