Where is Spike Lee? Here's why Knicks superfan isn't sitting courtside for Pacers series

You may be wondering why Spike Lee aka the Knicks' biggest super fan wasn't in the crowd for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

Well...it's because he has a movie to promote.

Speaking with the New York Times earlier this week, Lee is in France to support the release of his newest film, "Highest 2 Lowest" at the Cannes Film Festival, which means he’ll miss the opening games of the Knicks’ playoff series. While his focus is on the films' promotional efforts, his heart is with NYC. On Monday, the director paid tribute to his beloved basketball team by wearing a suit in the Knicks’ signature blue and orange, then he doubled down on his support at a news conference on Tuesday, showing up in Knicks gear from head to toe.

Meanwhile, Lee recently sat down with Kevin Durant's Boardroom for a discussion regarding his career, and amongst the topics he discussed was his admiration for the late legendary singer Prince, alongside his experiences working with Michael Jackson, his new film, his older works, NYC sports, A$AP Rocky and more.

The interview, which was conducted by Rich Kleiman and written by Damien Scott, took place at Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks production studio right before the Cannes Film Festival debut of "Highest 2 Lowest," which stars his longtime friend and collaborative partner Denzel Washington.
