Where Is ‘Farmhouse Facelift’ Filmed?

Hockey and maple syrup are some of Canada’s most popular symbols, but HGTV’s Farmhouse Facelift shows The Great White North in a calmer and less sticky light.

The series centers around hosts Billy Pearson and Carolyn Wilbrink as they transform run down farmhouses into beautiful historic homes for modern families. The duo, who are siblings, grew up in Ontario on a family farm, and their contracting and designing experiences are what make the show (and renovations) as authentic as possible.

Pearson, a contractor, has been doing construction work since he was 21. Wilbrink studied broadcast journalism in college, but went to design school after having her first two children. They started working together when Wilbrink bought her first farmhouse.

While most Ontario-based shows are set in Toronto’s cityscape, Pearson and Wilbrink tend to travel to the more familiar and rural areas in hopes to help families with much bigger, rustic homes than the ones found in the downtown areas.

What part of Ontario is ‘Farmhouse Facelift’ based in?

Most of the farmhouses the siblings refurbish are on the southern side of the province, close to Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. They’ve also traveled to Nova Scotia, a province right above the state of Maine. Let’s explore some of the towns they’ve traveled to.

Collingwood: A town right on the shores of Nottawasaga Bay. It’s a tourist destination, known for its outdoor recreational activities.

Huntsville: Located in the District of Muskoka, it’s scattered with hiking trails and beautiful parks.

Campbellford: This small town lies approximately midway between Toronto and Ottawa. There are scenic agricultural views and snowmobiling is a popular winter attraction.

Vineland: An agricultural community near Lake Ontario filled with fruits and wineries. It’s also home to the first horticultural research station in Canada, which continues to be operational.
