Cameron Young has become one of golf's premier names, as the golfer is currently ranked No. 3 on the Official World Golf Rankings

While he only has two major wins under his belt, his PGA stats are quite noteworthy. Across his six-year PGA career, the Scarborough, New York native has 29 top-10 finishes, including six of those finishes at majors since 2022.

Young is still chasing his first green jacket, but he has begun the 2026 Masters playing very good golf. The American will be looking to add his first major win to his belt at golf's most prolific championship.

Where is Cameron Young from?

Young was born in Scarborough, New York, in Westchester County, about an hour north of Manhattan. He frequently played golf at Sleep Hollow Country Club, where his father was the head professional.

He also represents the New York Golf Club in the TGL.

Where did Cameron Young go to college?

Despite his New York roots and attending Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx, Young's collegiate career was at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There, he played four seasons with the Demon Deacons. During his time at Wake Forest, he participated in the Junior Ryder Cup and Junior PGA Championship.

Cameron Young career highlights

Just before his appearance at the 2026 Masters, Young was victorious at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He edged out Matt Fitzpatrick by a stroke, and won with a 13-under score. Here is Young's winning moment on the waterside green.

Prior to this, his first PGA Tour win came in August 2025, when he won Wyndham Championship. With the win, Young became the 1,000th golfer to win a tournament in PGA Tour history.

Besides those two PGA wins, Young had two victories on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2021, along with the win at the New York State Open in 2017, where he became the first amateur to win the event.

His best round came during the 2024 Travelers Championship, when his 59-stroke third round was the field's low during the championship.

In major tournaments, Young has been up and down, but he has secured six top 10 finishes since 2022. He was the sole runner-up in 2022 at the British Open at St. Andrews, and most recently, finished tied for fourth at the 2025 U.S. Open in Oakmont.

Young is 28 years old. The golfer was born on May 7, 1997, in Scarborough, New York.

He made his professional debut in 2019 and earned his PGA Tour card ahead of the 2021–22 season.
