When creams stopped working, I reached for this at-home facial laser — and it’s on sale

Unpopular opinion, but it’s cool to be middle-aged.

The term is in desperate need of rebranding, but as someone who recently celebrated her birthday, it’s true what they say — you really do become more comfortable in your own skin with time.

Annoying idioms of aging being a privilege aside, there’s something to be said for growing out of caring about what others think of you, especially when it comes to your face and what you choose to do (or not do) with it. It’s likely one of the reasons I’m unapologetic about my love for anti-aging devices.

I don’t care if you think it’s because I want to look twenty or have internalized misogyny. The truth will remain the same. I use red light masks and microcurrent for the same reason I wear SPF and use whitening toothpastepreventative maintenance. Beauty treatments are just one of the ways I show myself love.

And in the spirit of the most loving month, it feels appropriate that one of my favorite beauty devices, the Nira Pro+, is discounted for Nira’s Valentine’s Day Sale.

Nira Pro+ Laser

A at-home Nira Laser Pro+Nira

Pros:

  • FDA-cleared
  • Clinically proven to increase collagen production, reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightens loose skin
  • 50% more power and 30% faster results than its predecessor
  • Designed to be used on the face, neck, chest and hands
  • 2-minute treatment time
  • Lightweight and small enough to pack in a makeup bag for travel

Cons:

  • Initial financial investment, but it should be noted that NIRA guarantees results and offers free shipping

The NIRA Pro (2nd Gen ), also known as the NIRA Pro+ Laser, uses 1450nm non-fractional laser technology to naturally boost collagen production, reducing fine lines while tightening skin. Designed to penetrate the skin surface and activate fibroblast cells, the at-home laser minimizes the look of wrinkles and sagging when consistently used.

Its nozzle is big enough to cover a good portion of the skin, so it’s simple to target a large surface area in a short amount of time. It offers five levels of power, and since the laser is non-ablative (meaning, it doesn’t destroy the top layer of skin like in-office lasers), it’s painless and safe for home use. Good for all skin types and tones, it’s dermatologist-approved and FDA-cleared.

The device not only works for the face, but the hands, neck and chest, all areas prone to show signs of photoaging first.

Power: Up to 144 J/CM2/Month (when used twice per day) | Design: Cordless, Rechargeable | Good for: All skin types | Time commitment: 2 minutes a day, twice per day

The Nira Pro+ first came on my radar after watching a bunch of 50 and 60-something content creators sing its praises. While my skin wasn’t “bad,” per se, I had begun noticing signs of collagen loss, like more dimpling in my chin, changing skin texture, and micro-lines from barrier damage that I was sure would only get worse if I didn’t act fast.

Every day I used the device on my face, neck and chin, waiting for the little beeps that alerted me it was time to move to another spot. I liked how easy it was to use (you can’t really beat two-minute treatments), and how ergonomically it was designed. At a certain point, I got so comfortable with it that I didn’t even need to stand in front of a mirror to see what I was doing. (FYI, not recommending this.)

At the end of testing, I not only noticed less dimpling in my chin, but my skin texture looked smoother. Those micro-lines all but disappeared, making each visit to the mirror (and makeup application) less traumatic.

I was so happy with the results that I continued to use it, even after my review was done. And I’m still using it — now, twice per day (as recommended), eight months later, and I credit it for helping my skin look brighter, tighter and naturally nixing those micro lines.

I’ve tested a lot of beauty devices by now and most are collecting dust beneath my sink. The Nira Pro+, however, isn’t one of them, and 100% worth trying — especially while it’s on sale.
