The Boston Celtics have been busy making moves as they have sent center Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets less than 24 hours after trading Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers.
The overall return for the Celtics is guard Anfernee Simons, forward Georges Niang, and three second-round picks.
This is a major change for the Celtics' lineup as Holiday and Porzingis were both starters last season when healthy. There are still moves to be made with the Celtics only having two centers on the roster.
Until any other potential moves are made, let's look at the Celtics' projected starting lineup.
PG - Derrick White
SG - Anfernee Simons
SF - Jaylen Brown
PF - Georges Niang
C - Xavier Tillman
It is important to note this is a lineup without superstar forward Jayson Tatum, who will likely miss most if not all of the 2025-26 season with a torn Achilles tendon.
The Celtics would still have more options off the bench, most notably in forward Sam Hauser and guards Payton Prichard and Baylor Scheierman. The other players currently on the roster are center Neemias Queta, guard J.D. Davison, forward Jordan Walsh, and two-way player Miles Norris. They also have the 28th and 32nd picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Celtics have done well to shed significant salary and reduce their enormous luxury tax bill, but more moves may need to happen to make this lineup competitive.
