Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer's hot seat has cooled—for now. The Tide improved to 2-1 on the season with a dominant 38-14 home win over the 2-1 Wisconsin Badgers.

The star of the day on offense was quarterback Ty Simpson, who had a career day, throwing for 382 yards and four touchdowns.

After Simpson’s big performance against Wisconsin’s defense, let’s take a closer look at how he could play a key role in turning Alabama’s season around.

What were Ty Simpson's stats against Wisconsin?

Simpson delivered the best game of his Alabama career so far. The junior completed 24 of 28 passes for 382 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 13.2 yards per throw. He also showed mobility in the pocket, adding 25 yards on the ground.

Alabama receiver Ryan Williams was Simpson's favorite target in the win. Williams, who missed last week's game against Louisiana-Monroe with a concussion, caught five passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

There were several bright spots from Simpson's big day.

Alabama's most creative and best play on offense came during the first play of the second half. The Tide pulled off a double flea flicker—Simpson then hit Williams who ran it 75 yards up the left sideline for a Tide score:

One of his best throws came on a 3rd-and-9. Watch as the pocket collapses around him, and he's able to keep his feet and find Williams for 24 yards and a first down:

Early in the third quarter, he had a 41-yard touchdown to Williams, who made a nice move after the catch:

On the same drive, he showed off his wheels, escaping the pressure somehow here and running for a first down:

It was quite a performance from Simpson, who could be peaking at just the right time. In the coming weeks, Alabama is about to get into the heart of its SEC schedule.

Where did Ty Simpson go to high school?

Simpson's success this season may not surprise those who watched him play in high school. He attended Westview High School in Martin, Tenn.

Simpson is a former 5-star quarterback prospect from the class of 2022. Per the 247Sports Composite he ranked as the No. 3 overall signal-caller in his class, and was No. 2 overall out of the state of Tennessee. He rushed for over 1,200 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season at Westview.

He's spent his entire career at Alabama, backing up both Jalen Milroe and Bryce Young as he's waited his turn in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama remaining schedule
