Where is Freddie Freeman from?

Freeman was born in California, but he's a dual citizen between Canada and the United States.

Freeman's father is from Windsor, and his mother is from Peterborough.

That makes Freeman the most recent Canadian to win a World Series, since the Dodgers won in 2024.

Why did the Braves get rid of Freddie Freeman?

The Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series. That was the last game franchise legend Freeman ever played for them.

They didn't want to give him the length on a new contract that Freeman wanted.

Atlanta instead traded for Matt Olson.

That opened the door for the Dodgers to sign Freeman.
