The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, giving the 33-year-old former NFL quarterback his first chance to run an offense in the league.
Who is Sean Mannion? Eagles' newest offensive coordinator has a similar path to Andy Reid.
The move may feel like deja vu to some fans; the last time the Eagles hired someone from the Green Bay quarterback room was 27 years ago, when they hired Andy Reid. The Philadelphia Eagles are now turning to Sean Mannion, who has spent the past two seasons on the Green Bay Packers' staff. Mannion has not called plays at the NFL level, but he is highly regarded within the Packers organization, where many believe he has head-coaching potential.
Originally from Oregon State, he spent 9 years in the NFL with the Rams, Vikings, and Seahawks after being drafted by St. Louis in the third round in 2015.
For Andy Reid, his rise began in the quarterbacks' room with the Green Bay Packers, carried through a 14-year run as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, and has since reached its peak with the Kansas City Chiefs.
