Much like the way Chris Drury yearned for Mike Sullivan before hiring the two-time Stanley Cup-winning coach the moment he became available last summer, Brady Tkachuk has intrigued the Rangers president and general manager.
The Blueshirts’ interest in the Senators captain predates Drury’s ascension to the helm in New York.
The connection only continues to take up oxygen due to the continued disappointment in Ottawa and a widespread belief that if Tkachuk were to wield the power of his no-movement clause over the next two seasons and choose his next team, Drury and the Rangers would be among several NHL clubs looking to be considered.
Speculation over Tkachuk’s future has persisted despite the 26-year-old repeatedly reaffirming his commitment to the Senators.
