Before pulling off a trade with the Green Bay Packers for edge rusher Rashan Gary, the Dallas Cowboys were widely viewed as a suitor for Trey Hendrickson.
Prior to the Gary trade, it was reported by Easton Butler of Packers Report that the Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were most interested in Hendrickson.
Whether or not this trade will cancel Dallas out of the market for Hendrickson remains to be seen, but right now things aren't looking good.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Cowboys have checked in on the now-former Cincinnati Bengals star, but his price would have to come down for Dallas to pull off that signing.
"The Cowboys checked in on Trey Hendrickson -- but it does not appear they are heavy in that market unless the price comes down," Meirov reported.
Hendrickson is projected to command a deal that pays him $25 million annually, but a strong market could bring that price up and we would expect Hendrickson's market to be robust considering the value placed on good edge rushers.
With Dallas taking on Gary's contract, which has a base salary of $18 million this year, it's fair to believe Hendrickson might not be in the cards for the Cowboys at this point.
That said, Dallas still needs another edge rusher, so we would expect the signing of one in a lower tier, like Boye Mafe, for example.
