Denny Hamlin's two daughters were seen crying on pit road after the title loss at Phoenix Raceway. The JGR driver addressed the situation and called it a 'life lesson' for his kids.

Hamlin shares three kids with his fiancée, Jordan Fish. The eldest is Taylor James, born in 2013, and is followed by Molly Gold, born in 2017. His third child and only son, Jameson Drew, was born this year back in June. The No.11 driver even missed the Mexico race weekend to attend to Drew's birth.

In a post-race press conference at Phoenix, Hamlin was asked about his teary-eyed daughters, and he replied (via ASAP Sports),

"Something we can't control. You know, certainly unfortunate circumstances. One of those life lessons years down the road."

Denny Hamlin was also hoping to win the race for his ailing father, Dennis. When asked how he planned to console his father, the 44-year-old had a solemn reply.

Denny Hamlin addresses the tire situation at Phoenix

Denny Hamlin weighed in on the multiple tire failures at Phoenix Raceway. He defended Goodyear for their efforts and instead, shifted responsibility towards the teams.

Notably, all four title contenders experienced a cut tire during the championship race, and it was William Byron's late-race puncture that ultimately derailed Hamlin's chances. The issue stemmed from teams running tire pressures lower than the recommended limits.

Noting the same, the No.11 driver said (via aforementioned source),

"Well, I think they did a great job all season long. It's not their fault that we're running the tires flat. I really applaud them and the tires that they've continued to bring to the racetrack and keep pushing the limits on softer, softer, to try to put it back in the drivers' hands. It's the teams. They're the ones that come here and we test. There's wheel force test. They keep testing the limits of really how low you can go." "It would be difficult for anyone to build a tire that can withstand what we're doing to it with this car. They're in a really tough spot. Certainly I think, if anything, they deserve credit," Denny Hamlin added.

Goodyear has been bringing softer sets as of late. The tire manufacturer has taken this approach to compensate for the aero deficiencies of the Next Gen package.

The playoff race at Bristol marked a notable case for the same. When the Spring Bristol race saw minimal tire falloff, the racing product suffered with fewer overtakes. As a result, softer right-side compounds were brought to Bristol, and the tires began cording within 30 laps. This led to a a chaotic outing with 14 drivers trading leads.

By race's, only 13 drivers finished on the lead lap, while drivers like Brad Keselowski and Zane Smith were able to finish in the podium places.
