Mckenna Grace wants to be the very best—but not just at acting.
In fact, she’s brushing up on her trading skills. While attending the Oscars 2026 on March 15 with her Regretting You costar Mason Thames, the actress included a mythical detail to her dress that would make Ash Ketchum do a double take.
“Wait, wait, wait! You wanna see what’s in my pockets?” McKenna quipped to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. “So, Mason and I were talking, and I was like, ‘I’m really into Pokémon cards. I want to try and be the first person to open Pokémon cards at the Oscars.’ That’s my plan tonight. I already snuck one over to Mason.”
Indeed, the 19-year-old showed off a few cards to the How to Train Your Dragon actor—who confirmed their romance earlier this year—including a rare Lillie’s Fairy Ex. And since Mckenna is focused on building her Pokédex, she teased whether she’s interested in trading her golden cards with another fan.
“Maybe, we’ll see,” she teased. “I might keep them for myself.”
While Mckenna’s range of Pokémon cards is impressive, her Vera Wang gown was just as memorable. Complete in blush pink, the stunning dress—also a nod to the silk number Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 1999 Oscars—featured a form-fitting bodice that flowed out into a dramatic skirt and train. To complete the look, she added a silver diamond necklace and pinned her hair in a neat bun.
And when Mckenna isn’t bonding with Mason, 18, at their first Oscars, she’s reflecting on collaborating with him to bring the Colleen Hoover film to life.
“It was very cute getting to work with Mason and getting to do a romance, as well,” the Young Sheldon alum said at the event. “I’ve known him for a very long time.”
As for her soft spot for Pokémon, this isn’t the first time Mckenna has offered a look into her growing collection. In fact, she’s not new to the anime’s lore.
“I love Pokémon so much. I have four binders inside of my drawer in my bedroom and they’re divided by rarity,” she explained during her appearance at a Ghostbusters panel in October 2024. “I’m really into it. I like Dragonaire, that’s my favorite Pokémon.”
