Trisha Yearwood embraced a new chapter with her new album, The Mirror, which she said is "different from all others," because, unlike previous albums in her career, she co-wrote every song in the new record. In a video shared by the country singer on her Instagram on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, she explained what makes The Mirror different from all her previous projects.

"This album is different from all others in that I co-wrote every single song on this record. I've never done that before in my whole life," she said.

She explained that her previous music, including hits The Song Remembers When, Walk Away Joe, and She's In Love with a Boy, are her songs, and she made those songs her own when she recorded them, but the songwriting is different. Yearwood explained writing songs for her upcoming album:

"But being a co-writer on these songs and coming in with, 'Hey, I wanna say this today," I think adds a layer that most people haven't seen from me. I think that's why I'm so excited about this record is because it's different in that way."

In the caption, Trisha Yearwood said that looking back, her 22-year-old self would have never thought it possible that she would co-write an entire album. She also revealed when fans can expect The Mirror to arrive, which is on July 18, 2025.

Trisha Yearwood shares her writing process for The Mirror album

With Trisha Yearwood co-writing all tracks in her upcoming album, The Mirror, she offered a glimpse into the process of creating the record. In a TalkShop live video, which aired on June 3, 2025, the country singer said that her songwriting sessions have been "pretty cool," and she considered it something like group therapy.

"A songwriting session, if you've never been in one yourself, it's pretty cool. It's actually like free therapy for everybody involved," she said.

She shared her experience, saying that there are usually two to three people with her at the table, and it will all start with just them having random conversations about what's going on in their lives over "a lot of coffee." Yearwood added that in the middle of those conversations, someone would get an idea, somebody would grab a guitar, and the songwriting process would begin.

Being involved in writing her music is a "pretty amazing process" to be part of, she said. Mostly, Trisha Yearwood explained that she let the songs come naturally to her, so at the end of the day, the songs she writes are songs that they hadn't prepared to write. Besides doing what she had never done before, she explained that she co-wrote The Mirror because she wanted to prove somebody wrong.

"Somebody in college had told me I wasn't a songwriter, and I just let it be the truth for 40 years, and then something just kind of clicked, and I thought, 'That doesn't have to be the truth, just because somebody said that about me'."

Trisha Yearwood's The Mirror features 15 tracks, including previously released singles Girls Night In, Bringing the Angels, and The Wall Or The Way Over.

The Mirror marks Trisha Yearwood's first album since she released Every Girl in 2019.
