The New York Yankees got a major injury scare in Max Fried's most recent outing, as he lasted just three innings against the Baltimore Orioles before being pulled early.
There was clearly something wrong with him, and the Yankees had him undergo imaging to determine how bad the injury was after this scare on Wednesday.
And according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Yankees got some good news on Fried despite the star lefty landing on the injured list for the Yankees.
Yankees get good news despite Max Fried heading to IL
"Max Fried is heading the injured list, but the news is relatively positive all things considered: AN MRI revealed a bone bruise in his left elbow, per the team," Passan reports. "Fr. Neal ElAttratche will look over the imaging, but if there is no ligament damage, the Yankees avoid worst case."
While a player like Fried landing on the injured list doesn't bring any good news, this injury update on Fried does come with a sigh of relief.

There's still some uncertainty with how long Fried will be out, but based on this report from Passan, it looks like the Yankees won't be without Fried for the rest of the regular season.
Fried has a 3.21 ERA and a 4-3 record this season for the Yankees in his 10 starts. While he's going to miss some time, and potentially not a small amount, it does appear as if the Yankees won't be without Fried all season.
This elbow injury is cause for concern, but considering the worst-case scenario appears to have been avoided, there is some good news for the Yankees in the wake of this Fried placement on the injured list.
