The Kansas City Royals recalled utility man Nick Lofton from Triple-A on Monday out of necessity.
According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, infielder Jonathan India is dealing with an injury he's suffered from in the past. The Royals placed him on the 10-day injured list.
India's injury was labeled as a left shoulder subluxation by Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors. The former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds also injured his shoulder on a diving play last June.
India won the NL Rookie of the Year Award with the Reds in 2021 and was traded to the Royals in the offseason of 2024 for right-hander Brady Singer and outfielder Joey Wiemer.
The trade probably hasn't panned out as Kansas City had hoped.

India's batting line of .228/.322/.343 with just 11 home runs and a .665 OPS in 153 games stands out for the wrong reasons. He becomes a free agent after the 2026 season.
While India is out, Loftin and Michael Massey could split duties at second base.
