Those familiar with Genshin Impact's Song of the Welkin Moon web event (mentioned as the first Cryo Archon in Genshin) by HoYoverse must know about Belyi Tsar, mentioned as the first Cryo Archon of Snezhnaya.

Not only that, recent theories about him have emerged based on the new in-game lore and context hidden in the book, "Hymns from the Far North," in Nod-Krai. And now you, as a player, may be wondering as to who he really was and how he fits into Snezhnaya’s past before the Tsaritsa came into power.

This article will compile all the information we know about him so far, from official descriptions to in-game lore texts.

Official descriptions

Genshin Impact's Song of the Welkin Moon web event talks about the Belyi Tsar, who ruled over the region of Snezhnaya after the Archon War. He even led a group of beings called Faes, aligned with the faction of Snowland Faes during his reign. After his death, the Tsaritsa assumed the mantle, and the Faes lost power and significance until they were forgotten entirely.

The Belyi Tsar had fought during the Archon war and rightfully earned a Cryo Gnosis, joining the first Seven Archons (like Zhongli and Venti). Due to unknown reasons so far, he stood up against Celestia as he wanted to form a perpetual paradise known as Elysium. Ultimately, he had failed, falling to the Abyss during the Cataclysm and leading to Tsaritsa taking his place.

In-game lore so far

Belyi Tsar seems to have many different stories and interpretations across numerous unnamed texts in Genshin Impact's open world so far. In some, he is mentioned to have a brother with whom he was very close until a tragic quarrel erupted, leading to Belyi Tsar accidentally killing him. In his grief, the once vibrant land of Snezhnaya had frozen into an eternal winter.

On the other hand, a new in-game book titled "Hymns of the Far North" found in the library of the Frostmoons Scions, has rekindled a story about Belyi Tsar. The book names a character called "Pakkaisukko," which many readers think could be another version of Belyi Tsar and possibly the Tsaritsa's father in Genshin Impact.

He is believed to have been obsessed with "Pojola," which implies Celestia because of its description. The book is presented as folklore once again, but the events are quite similar to what is officially known about Belyi Tsar.

It seems these references are timely with Nod-Krai's current storyline, compiling all stories, lore of Teyvat, Celestia, Khaenri'ah, and the gods. Probably before Snezhnaya's release, we will get more information about him and his legacy.
