Juan Soto makes his much-anticipated return to the Bronx this weekend, with the Mets and Yankees clashing in the Subway Series.
Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract to switch boroughs in the offseason, the largest deal in MLB history. The 26-year-old megastar clubbed 41 homers in his lone season with the Yankees, fueling the club to their first AL pennant in 15 years.
Soto's decision certainly irked Yankees fans, who are poised to greet their former player with a chorus of boos this weekend.
After a slow start, Soto has a 1.077 OPS in May, helping the Mets (28-16) establish one of the best records in the Majors.
The Yankees (25-18) are off to a similarly strong start, even without Soto, in large part due to the indomitable Aaron Judge. He's hitting .412 with 15 homers and 41 RBI, leading the league in all three categories.
