Boston's storied Marathon Weekend concludes with the Patriots' Day game Monday, with first pitch between the Red Sox and White Sox set for the late morning.
The early start time, of course, allows fans attending Monday's game at Fenway Park to participate in one of sport's unique traditions: After cheering on their Red Sox, they can amble on towards Boylston Street and watch droves of runners cross the finish line at this year's Boston Marathon.
In recognition of the 12-year anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon, the Red Sox will once again don home jerseys with 'Boston' emblazoned on the front. Among other traditions, the American Flag will be draped over the iconic Green Monster during pregame festivities.
One of Boston's newest players, Walker Buehler, will get his first taste of Patriots' Day, as the right-hander earns the nod for Monday's game. Buehler is coming off the best start of his young Red Sox career, allowing just two runs over five innings.
Buehler isn't the only recent acquisition heating up: Third baseman Alex Bregman recently compiled the first five-hit game of his MLB career.
