It's a divisional showdown Friday as the Pirates host the Reds to open a weekend series at PNC Park.
The NL Central has been strong early this season, with all five teams at or above .500 for weeks. Cincinnati has spent the last two weeks atop the pile thanks in large part to the work of rookie Sal Stewart, who is among MLB's leaders in several offensive categories and leads the majors with 29 RBIs.
Pittsburgh saw ace Paul Skenes get knocked around a bit by the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing more earned runs (four) than in his previous five starts combined (three), and the Pirates will hope Mitch Keller can help them bounce back as they open another divisional series against the Reds.
The veteran has faltered a bit after a brilliant start to the season but still brings an impressive 3.18 ERA into his matchup with Reds starter Brady Singer (4.97 ERA in six starts).
