Michigan vs. Oklahoma was a game college football fans had circled all offseason, but the vibes are a bit different now that game day is here.
The fallout from the Wolverines' controversial 13-12 victory over Western Michigan dominated the airwaves all week, and the shine is certainly off the preseason expectations in Ann Arbor. Michigan fell from No. 16 to out of the Associated Press Top 25 entirely after a win and is an underdog at home against the 11th-ranked Sooners.
All of which is to say, the honeymoon for Kyle Whittingham didn't survive the first week. The coach needs to get his team back on track quickly, starting with quarterback Bryce Underwood. While the former top recruit's Hail Mary saved the day against the Broncos, the Wolverines wouldn't have been in that position if not for his uninspiring performance before the final play. He managed just 123 yards through the air before the final 47-yard heave and had a pair of key turnovers as well.
Meanwhile, the Sooners took care of business in their opener against lesser Week 1 opponent, mauling UTEP 51-0. They have no QB worries at the moment, as John Mateer threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the opener. Even with Michigan's issues, this week will present a much tougher challenge as the Sooners play in the Big House for the first time, but Oklahoma will have plenty of confidence heading into this one.
It's a fascinating Big Ten vs. SEC matchup in Ann Arbor. Here's everything you need to know to watch.
