A showdown of aces is on tap Friday night as Logan Gilbert and the Seattle Mariners host Drew Rasmussen and the Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay remains the class of the American League and has won 12 of 16 games since being swept by the Red Sox in Fenway Park coming out of the All-Star break. The Mariners have been a bit shakier of late but are right in the mix for the final AL wild card berth.

Each starting pitcher Friday will be facing his home-state team. Gilbert (8-6, 3.46 ERA) grew up in the Orlando area, while Rasmussen (10-5, 2.91) was born near Seattle and attended high school in Spokane. Rasmussen has been nearly untouchable in four previous outings at T-Mobile Park, allowing just one earned run in 14.2 innings.
