Week 8 of Utah high school football delivered another round of chaos in 6A while cementing the dominance of the state's undefeated programs. The week's marquee matchup saw Skyridge hand Lone Peak their second straight loss in a double-overtime thriller, while American Fork's surprising struggles continued with a lopsided defeat at Lehi.
The biggest storyline remains Ridgeline's relentless march toward perfection. The Riverhawks improved to 8-0 with a commanding victory over Stansbury despite a weather delay, while Cedar stayed unbeaten at 8-0 in 3A. As the regular season enters its final weeks, the playoff picture is coming into focus—though in Utah's topsy-turvy 6A Region 3, nothing is guaranteed until the final whistle blows.
State Rankings
1. Corner Canyon (6-1) — The Chargers enjoyed a bye week and return to action this Thursday when American Fork visits Draper. Star quarterback Helaman Casuga has surpassed 1,900 passing yards and 25 total touchdowns on the season. Despite their lone loss to Lone Peak, Corner Canyon still boasts the state's best roster and stands as the team to beat entering the playoffs.
2. Skyridge (6-2) — The Falcons delivered the performance of the week, edging Lone Peak 37-34 in a double-overtime classic Thursday night. After a scoreless first quarter and trailing 10-0 at halftime, Skyridge roared back with 24 second-half points to force extras. Running back Lincoln Tahi was unstoppable with 128 rushing yards, 85 receiving yards, and two touchdowns, while quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne threw for 231 yards and two scores while adding 81 rushing yards and another trip to the end zone. The victory pushes Skyridge to 2-1 in Region 3 and atop the standings.
3. Davis (7-1) — The Darts battled through a weather postponement to secure a 21-10 victory at Farmington on Saturday. While it wasn't the explosive performance fans have come to expect, quarterback Tradon Bessinger still managed 255 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Davis continues handling business and appears headed for a 9-1 regular season finish.
4. Lone Peak (5-3) — The Knights absorbed their second consecutive heartbreaker, falling to Skyridge 37-34 in double overtime Thursday night. Junior quarterback Cruz Christensen threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns, while receiver Jaron Pula hauled in seven catches for 175 yards and two scores. Senior linebacker Tony Grimmer paced the defense with 21 tackles in the losing effort. After stunning Corner Canyon two weeks ago, Lone Peak has now dropped to 5-3 and 1-2 in Region 3.
5. Ridgeline (8-0) — The Riverhawks stayed perfect with a dominant 41-6 dismantling of Stansbury on Friday night, navigating a lengthy halftime delay due to lightning. Quarterback Nate Dahle connected with receiver Graham Livingston for two touchdown passes, and also found Noah Fiefia on a 58-yard scoring bomb. The defense was suffocating in the second half, blanking Stansbury while adding two interception return touchdowns—one by Tayson Knighton and another by Braxton Parry. Ridgeline is one of only two undefeated teams left in the state.
6. Lehi (5-3) — The Pioneers shocked American Fork 26-3 on Friday night, limiting the Cavemen to single-digit points for the first time this season. Running back Devaughn Eka was a one-man wrecking crew with over 140 yards rushing and three touchdowns. The authoritative performance was exactly what Lehi needed after their heartbreaking one-point loss to Herriman two weeks ago.
7. Mountain Ridge (6-2) — The Sentinels navigated a weather delay to topple Herriman 21-8 on the road Friday night. Quarterback Jaxon Hunt produced both a passing touchdown and a rushing score, while the defense stifled the previously unbeaten Mustangs to just one trip to the end zone. The impressive road triumph elevated Mountain Ridge to 3-0 in Region 2.
8. Herriman (7-1) — The Mustangs absorbed their first setback of the season, dropping a 21-8 decision to Mountain Ridge at home on Friday. Despite the weather-delayed defeat, Herriman stands at 3-0 in Region 2 play and firmly positioned as one of the state's elite programs.
9. West (7-1) — The Panthers extended their dominant run with a 63-0 shellacking of West Jordan on Friday night. West has been the most consistent squad in 5A, sitting at 4-0 in Region 4 with a balanced attack and suffocating defense that makes them one of the most complete teams in their classification.
10. Orem (6-2) — The Tigers enjoyed a bye week and stand at 4-0 in Region 7. After their convincing triumph over Timpview two weeks ago, Orem is firmly in control of their region and poised for a strong playoff run.
11. American Fork (6-2) — The Cavemen were completely shut down in a shocking 26-3 rout at Lehi on Friday night. American Fork generated just 96 passing yards and 59 rushing yards in the weather-shortened defeat. After their upset of Lone Peak, the Cavemen have now dropped back-to-back contests and face an uphill battle with Corner Canyon looming this Thursday.
12. Crimson Cliffs (7-1) — The Mustangs cruised to a 35-7 blowout of Dixie on Friday night. Quarterback Tanoai Andersen produced three touchdowns—two passing and one rushing—while receiver Jaxson Holt contributed two scores. Crimson Cliffs improved to 3-0 in Region 9 and continues looking like one of the state's most complete 4A programs.
13. Springville (7-1) — The Red Devils enjoyed a bye week and remain 3-1 in Region 7. Springville's defense has been stellar all season, and they continue proving they're among the top teams in 5A heading into the final stretch.

Wide receiver Salesi Moa hauled in three touchdown passes, while running back Cade Hadley punched in two rushing scores. Fremont stands at 3-0 in Region 5 and back on track.

16. Morgan (7-1) — The Trojans enjoyed a bye week and remain 2-0 in 3A North with just one loss in non-conference play.
