Well I did it! The CDS delivered Tangerino to me, and I would have been an idiot to pass him up. Now he's in England with me, and what a journey we had!

I was visiting Florida; it was the birthday of my orange cat who passed away last year. Tangerino followed me home - and stayed. He was a community

TNR cat with an ear tip and no microchip. I was able to locate his feeder via some facebook sleuthing, and they gave me the thumbs up to adopt him.

I had him chipped and vaccinated, and re-arranged my return flight plans. I had to get him used to wearing a harness, sitting in a carrier and being rolled around on top of a suitcase. Two days before

we were scheduled to leave, Tangerino got in a fight with another cat who scratched him and left him with puncture wounds on his ear. I kept him inside after that.

We traveled by car, plane, boat and train to get home. The journey took two days. It was exhausting. But we did it, and it was worth every effort and expense. Tangerino is home with me now, and I couldn't be happier.

Our orange traveler is still sleeping it off, more or less glued to the heating pad as he adjusts to the cold climate. He's had a massive lifestyle change, so I'm giving him all the time he needs to settle in.

But there will be no more street fights, no more sleeping in the dirt, no more eating cheap cat food from plastic plates on the sidewalk. No more suffering through heat waves, fleas and mosquitoes. He's going to live a long life and be so, so loved.

bewildflowers I've been following your journey since the beginning and I'm SO happy it worked out for both of you!!! Thank you for going the extra mile to give this beautiful boy a home

  • This person really went a lot farther than just the extra mile for Tangerino. Rearranging flights, getting all the paperwork done, carrier training, and then taking a cat across cars, planes, boats, and trains is serious dedication. Most people would have stopped at finding him a local home, but instead Tangerino ended up getting flown across the ocean for a better life. That little orange guy seriously found somebody willing to go a couple thousand extra miles just to make sure he was safe, loved, and warm forever.

Status_Poet_1527 Tangerine is a lucky boy

  • 26

verdant11 That boy got out of Florida!

  • Tangerino really went from sunny Florida street cat to cozy little English gentleman. After that huge trip across planes, boats, trains, and cars, his meows are definitely going to come back with a British accent eventually. The image of this tiny orange guy adjusting to cold weather beside a heating pad after spending so much time outside is honestly so cute. One day he is dodging mosquitoes and heat waves, and the next he is basically living the fancy indoor life overseas.

Consistent-Storage90 Awww look at him sleeping. belly up - he feels so happy and safe! I hope you both have a lifetime of cuddles and orange chaos

  • Get ready for a lifetime of adorable cuddles and classic orange cat shenanigans. Tangerino already sounds like the kind of little guy who is going to keep life entertaining every single day. Orange cats somehow manage to be sweet, chaotic, dramatic, affectionate, and slightly ridiculous all at the same time. One minute he will probably be curled up peacefully beside the heating pad, and the next he will be sprinting through the house with absolutely no plan in mind. That little orange face is definitely going to cause a lot of lovable trouble for years to come.
