We now know when Caitlin Clark will make her USA Basketball debut

Caitlin Clark has been selected to USA Basketball's Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament roster in a huge development for the Indiana Fever superstar's national team ambitions.

Though she has been in the public eye for several years, Clark has not yet made her debut for the national team. Though Clark was invited to training camp, the two-time WNBA All-Star was left off the roster for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris -- where Team USA won their eighth successive gold medal -- and she missed much of the 2025 WNBA season through injury.

But after participating in a three-day minicamp at Duke University in December, Clark has earned a spot on the team for FIBA Women's World Cup qualifying. Following a stellar junior career, Clark is expected to make her national team debut under head coach Kara Lawson during the tournament, which will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico between March 11 and March 17.

Clark won three gold medals while competing internationally at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Women's Americas Championship in Argentina, the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Thailand and the 2021 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Hungary. The Women's World Cup in Germany this September will serve as something of an appetizer ahead of Clark's anticipated selection to the US team at the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The United States national team has won the past four FIBA Women's World Cup titles. Their 11 titles overall are the most in the competition's history.
