Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise went viral for their appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs-Denver Broncos game on Monday night (Sept. 14), and fans are finally finding out what they were talking about.
During the season opener, Swift and Cruise sat in the Chiefs suite to cheer for Travis Kelce and the Kansas City team. Broadcast cameras caught the two in a conversation, but fans have been dying to know what it was that they were talking about.
In an appearance on The Tonight Show Thursday night (Sept. 17) to promote Cruise's upcoming film, Digger, the movie icon finally spilled what they discussed during the game.
“When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?” Fallon asked.
“She was schooling me on football,” Cruise replied. “For real. She was bringing the football. First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid. Everybody there, all their friends—they’re a beautiful couple and magical in their own right.”
Cruise praised Swift for her football knowledge, sharing that it's been a moment since he was at an NFL game.
He added, “I hadn’t been to a football game since pre-Covid, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot. But she knows her stuff.”
Swift previously admitted that she didn't know much about football until she met Kelce. She at first thought all the players were on the field at once and asked Travis what it was like playing and tackling his brother Jason Kelce during their Super Bowl appearance, as she didn't realize that they both play on offense and wouldn't be on the field at the same time.
“She said, ‘He’s so patient,'” Cruise said of Travis teaching Swift about football. “I said, ‘I’m sure he was.’ I think everybody would be very patient [with her].”
The movie icon also praised Swift for non-football-related skills.
“She’s got such a great sense of humor,” Cruise said of Swift. “A brilliant writer also, by the way. Brilliant musician and director. Very skilled."
Cruise was one of the 1,000 guests at Swift and Kelce's July 3 wedding. The couple got married at Madison Square Garden, and while Swift has not publicly spoken out about the ceremony, Travis has shared his experience about their special day.
“Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, from the vows to just seeing everyone, to how much fun we had, throughout the entire evening and hearing that, kind of be relayed through everybody’s stories of the night," Kelce recounted on the Sept. 2 episode of New Heights with his brother, Jason Kelce. "And it was just so magical, man.”
