Way-too-early 2027 mock draft has the Cardinals quickly giving up on Carson Beck

The Arizona Cardinals are one of the hardest teams to figure out for the 2026 season.

In 2025, the Cardinals were one of the worst teams in the league, and as a result, owned the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With that pick, the team selected running back Jeremiyah Love, which some felt was an odd decision considering all the needs the team has.

The team also didn't do much in free agency to inspire confidence in 2026. Wide receivers Devin Duvernay and Kendrick Bourne were the big additions on offense, while Roy Lopez and Andrew Wingard were added to the defense.

One of the more interesting picks the team made in the draft was quarterback Carson Beck in the third round. Beck played in plenty of big games in college for both Georgia and Miami. However, scouts were divided on Beck's pro potential, as he's an older prospect and isn't a special athlete.

The Cardinals also have Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew on the roster as well, and it's more likely that one of those veterans starts in 2026. If both struggle, though, it's not hard to imagine Beck getting some snaps.

However, Cooper Petagna of CBS Sports isn't buying to Beck as a long-term option. In Petagna's way-too-early 2027 mock draft, he has the Cardinals taking Oregon quarterback Dante Moore with the No. 2 pick.

Regarding this selection, Petagna offered the following:

After weighing a potential jump to the 2026 NFL Draft following his first full season as a starter in Eugene, Moore opted to return to Oregon, aiming to help Dan Lanning and the Ducks pursue a national title. Widely regarded as one of the most natural passers in the class, his decision to return should only strengthen his case to be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick.

Moore was expected to be a top pick in 2026, but he opted to return to Oregon instead. Considering only two quarterbacks went in the first round in 2026, Moore definitely would have been a top pick this year.

Nevertheless, Moore has another year to learn and grow in college and raise his value even more. The quarterback is a natural passer with a strong arm and above-average athleticism, and he could easily be the franchise passer the Cardinals have been missing.

It's a little crazy to talk about the Cardinals needing a quarterback, because at this time last year, it seemed like Kyler Murray would be the starter for years to come. However, Murray disappointed in 2025, and ended up getting cut and signed by the Minnesota Vikings

Adding Moore in 2027 would give the Cardinals the much-needed franchise star they've been searching for. It's going to be rough being bad again in 2026, but it will be worth it if Moore comes to town and becomes a star.
