Watch: First American-born pope greets crowd from St. Peter’s balcony

Shortly after white smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel, signaling that the sequestered cardinals had elected a new pope, the new leader of the Catholic church was revealed to the world. American-born Cardinal Robert Prevost will be taking the reins of the Roman Catholic Church. He will be known as Pope Leo XIV and is the first pope from the United States.
