Adley Rutschman was at the center of one of the biggest deals at the MLB trade deadline, going from the Baltimore Orioles to the Boston Red Sox in a seven-player swap.
On Thursday, Rutschman returned to Baltimore for the first time as an opponent, and he put on a show for his former fanbase. Rutschman went deep twice in his first three at-bats, single-handedly keeping Boston afloat.
The night must've felt good for Rutschman, who probably expected to remain in Baltimore long term. Instead, he now suits up for a division rival that will play the Orioles 13 times every season.

Rutcshman had a special performance in his first game at Camden Yards as a visitor, homering twice in his first three at bats. The catcher opened the day with a home run off of Brandon Young in the first inning, giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead in his first ever at bat against the Orioles.

Before his first at bat, Rutschman got a nice hand from the Orioles crowd who rooted for the catcher since Baltimore drafted him first overall in 2019.

Rutschamn hit two solo home runs in his return to Baltimore, the first two hits of the game for the Red Sox. Rutschman entered the game with 37 home runs at Camden Yards as an Orioles, and now has two as a visiting member.

The Red Sox sent the Orioles four notable prospects in the deal for Rutschman, a hefty price to land the switch-hitting catcher. The deal also saw Boston send catcher Carlos Narváez to the Orioles and receive catcher Jake Rogers from Baltimore, but the team DFA'd Rogers a few weeks later when Rutschman returned from the injured list.
