Washington Commanders: Former Cowboys legend shreds former team, praises former DC: ‘Dan Quinn made Dallas hot again’

The Washington Commanders have exceeded expectations by 100 miles in their first season as a “rebuild.”

Now after a (12-5) regular season finish, the Commanders have their first playoff win since 2005.

After the Commanders finished yet another clutch performance that resulted in a game-winning field goal that bounced off the right upright before crossing over the bar to secure the win, the scene in the locker room was pure jubilation.

“Talent, culture and people,” majority owner Josh Harris said after the game.

Magic Johnson, who has a minority stake in the team, also caught up with the media following the wildcard win in Tampa.

“We picked the right people,” Johnson said. “We brought in Adam Peters and Coach Quinn and we turned the culture into a winning culture from a losing culture. And the players, how about that quarterback?”

Johnson and Harris make the best points — and have also been the architect for one of the most improbable turnarounds in recent NFL history.

For more than two decades, this franchise was riddled with controversy, drama, dysfunction and losing while Dan Snyder was the team’s owner.

And then Harris finally bought the team, hired Adam Peters as the GM and they worked together to land the team’s next head coach, former Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn.

Quinn has implemented a culture in Washington where it’s clear the players are buying in instantly. This is a team that finished last year with four wins, and is now heading to Detroit to play the Lions in the second round of the NFC playoffs.

While the Cowboys appear to be trending in the wrong direction, it’s fair to wonder if Quinn’s departure —after leading the Cowboys to top five defensive finishes while he was there — played a role in Washington’s rivals downfall.

Quinn brought former Cowboys DL coach Joe Whitt Jr., while luring players like Dante Fowler Jr., Dorrance Armstrong and Tyler Biadaz to Washington this offseason.

Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant took to social media after Washington’s playoff win on Sunday night to not only give praise to Quinn and the Commanders, but also rip his former team along the way.

“Dan Quinn turned a once-struggling franchise into a playoff contender who won his playoff game,” Bryant posted on X. ‘Until Dallas focuses on winning instead of politics…Cowboys fans should not expect success soon.. I’m telling you this straightforwardly.. just as I always do.”

Bryant didn’t stop there. He went on to say Quinn was a massive reason for the Cowboys’ success while he was there with a bold statement to say the least.

“Dan Quinn made Dallas hot again for a quick moment and if anyone says otherwise they are f***ing lying.. he turned nobody’s into stars!”
