The Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors are adding a new member to the fold in mid-March, according to a recent report.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Shams Charania stated that a 6-foot-11 former Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat center has agreed to a 10-day contract with the Dubs.
“The Golden State Warriors are signing former Heat and Jazz center Omer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract,” Charania wrote on X/Twitter. “Yurtseven spent the season in the Euroleague before joining the G League last week, posting 36 points and 12 rebounds Friday night.”
After spending the final season of his collegiate career at Georgetown and failing to convince a franchise to draft him in the first or second round of the NBA Draft, Yurtseven signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Thunder.
The Tashkent, Uzbekistan native never appeared in a game with Oklahoma City, though, getting waived before he received a chance to get his feet wet.
In 2021, Yurtseven inked a deal with the Heat and was given a legitimate opportunity to contribute. The 27-year-old averaged 9.7 points and 3.9 rebounds with the Heat in two seasons and reached the NBA Finals with the storied Eastern Conference organization in 2023.
Shortly after his stint with the Heat, Yurtseven spent one season with the Utah Jazz before heading overseas to compete in the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos.
If Yurtseven wants to stick around the NBA for the foreseeable future, he’ll maximize his golden opportunity with the Warriors.
