It would be shocking to witness the Golden State Warriors land Anthony Davis for two primary reasons.
For starters, the Washington Wizards have been reluctant to move Davis, as they can envision a future with the 10-time All-Star at the forefront.
Additionally, the Wizards reportedly want the king's ransom for Davis (two first-round picks, multiple first-round pick swaps, and multiple second-round picks), and it’s unlikely the Warriors will meet Washington’s hefty demands (which would be a smart move).
In 94.1 WIP in Philadelphia’s Joe DeCamara’s opinion, Golden State should steer clear of Davis and pursue a seven-time All-Star center and MVP.
“A deal that makes a ton of sense both ways is that the (Philadelphia) Sixers wanna get out from (under) Joel Embiid — trade him to (Golden State) for Jimmy Butler,” DeCamara said.
Embiid is in the same stratosphere as Davis, which is good and bad news for the Warriors. The Kansas product possesses the same dynamic two-way skill set as Davis: he makes positive plays from 30+ feet out, flourishes in the mid-post, and wreaks havoc as an awe-inspiring weak-side defender.
However, like Davis, Embiid has a reputation for missing lengthy stretches of basketball due to devastating injuries, making him a contributor the Dubs should also have second doubts about adding to their offseason radar (he's missed 150 games since the start of the 2023-24 season).
Even if the 76ers’ asking price proves more reasonable than the Wizards', trading for Embiid should be a no-go for Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors.
