The Boston Celtics are facing an offseason of roster moves, but there’s one player they absolutely shouldn’t trade.
While guys like Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and even Jaylen Brown could be moved, Boston would be wise to keep two-way star Derrick White off-limits to any and all suitors.
According to Yahoo’s Kevin O’Connor, though, that might not stop the Golden State Warriors from pursuing White on the summer trade market.
“The Warriors might go for Derrick White this offseason,” O’Connor said during a new episode of The Kevin O’Connor Show.
“That's the type of player they want to go for. That's intriguing to me because the Warriors, in all likelihood, (will) continue with this Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green core.”

“White would be a perfect fit for the Steve Kerr offense.”
“His shooting ability, the high-IQ decision-making, the defense … Derrick White would be just glorious for the Golden State Warriors.”
“How desperate are they going to get, though? Because why would the Celtics trade Derrick White, who's only going to be 31, and still feels like he's getting better every year?”
“The Warriors will have the ability to trade their first-rounders in ’26, ’28, and ’32, plus swaps in ’27, ’29, and ’31.”
White is entering the first year of a four-year, $118 million veteran extension he signed with the Celtics, ostensibly keeping White in a Celtics uniform through a $34.9 million player option in 2028-29 (per Spotrac).
White is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, and Celtics GM Brad Stevens knows that. It’s not difficult to argue that, outside of Jayson Tatum, White is the most untouchable player on Boston’s roster. He provides historically elite defense at the guard position and has now evolved into a dangerous three-point shooting threat, as noted by O’Connor.
It would take an offer of gargantuan proportions to pry White away from the Celtics.
