Warriors predicted to pull off blockbuster move for $101 million Lakers four-time MVP

The Golden State Warriors appear to be a legitimate long-shot landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, and Boston Celtics are the three teams most often mentioned in recent trade rumors involving the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.

Fortunately for the Dubs, it isn’t necessarily Antetokounmpo or bust with other star targets on the market. The Ringer’s Bill Simmons likes the idea of the Warriors pulling off a blockbuster offseason move for a Los Angeles Lakers four-time MVP soon.

“Before we get to Giannis (Antetokounmpo), LeBron, what happens with that is a good one," Simmons said Sunday. "This one is a really fun one because the Warriors is really in play now, like for real. I really feel like if I had to bet my life on a team, I'd think I would bet on them . . . I think that would be the move for me."

Before the Warriors get their hopes up on the possibility of signing James, they must receive confirmation that the 22-time All-Star is returning for another NBA season at age 41.

Things can change in the blink of an eye in the big leagues, meaning that while the consensus is that James will opt for a farewell tour when he’s set to retire, the four-time NBA champion could shock the world by walking away from the game this summer.

Assuming James commits to a 23rd campaign, Simmons’ prediction indicates that there’s a realistic scenario where the former Cleveland Cavaliers superstar could take his talents to the Bay for the final chapter of his career.

James’ recent defensive woes could frighten Golden State a bit.

Still, his continued offensive brilliance, specifically as an anticipatory disruptor and a downhill freight train, could give them enough incentive to bring him on board (he contributed 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game this season while deferring to Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic).
