Warriors predicted to make horrendous $64 million Brandin Podziemski decision

The future of the Golden State Warriors definitely isn't as bright as it once was. When the Warriors had young Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, it was obvious they would be the best team in the NBA for a very long time. Now, the Warriors are a rather average team, and the future is somewhat bleak.

On the flip side, Golden State still has some young, talented players, though it will have to decide whether it wants to pay all of those guys.

The Warriors have some fringe guys who probably don't deserve to be paid, and one of them is Brandin Podziemski. Podziemski has been very average, to say the least, but one cap expert recently predicted it wouldn't matter and that he'd get a $64 million deal.

“Podziemski has improved each season. He’s even maintained his shooting efficiency as his role has grown each season. That’s key in projecting what Podziemski can be moving forward. The Warriors have been proactive in signing their own to extensions when it’s made sense. Unless Podziemski thinks he can really cash in big as a restricted free agent, look for a deal to get done here. Something in the range of the Non-Taxpayer MLE feels about right at this point.

“Projection: Four years, $64 million, no options,” Keith Smith of Spotrac wrote.

I personally don't view Podziemski as a $64 million player, but we have to remember how much the market has changed over the past few years. $64 million over four years really isn't a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, especially in the NBA world.
