The Golden State Warriors may have to think outside the box to maximize the rest of the buyout season and set themselves up for future success.
ClutchPoints’ Jedd Pagaduan believes the franchise should consider acquiring a 33-year-old ex-Miami Heat forward one year after trading him.
“Slow-Mo (Kyle Anderson) signed with the Dubs prior to the 2024-25 season, and he was traded to the Miami Heat in the deal that brought Butler to the Bay,” Pagaduan wrote Thursday. “He played 36 games for the Warriors and started three games, playing 15.0 minutes a night.”
“Anderson is the kind of cerebral veteran that (Steve) Kerr tends to rely on, and his playmaking, defense, and feel for the game makes him an easy piece to integrate for the Dubs. He's not going to be a very impactful veteran for the Warriors, but he should at least give the team extra insurance at the forward positions.”
“The Memphis Grizzlies are also punting on the 2025-26 campaign, which means that Anderson could very well get bought out, paving the way for a return to the Bay.”
The Warriors had no choice but to move on from Anderson before last year’s Feb. 6 trade deadline. Butler was the ultimate prize for the Dubs at the time, making it a no-brainer to do whatever it took to land the six-time All-Star.
Considering Anderson is still an asset that can contribute off the bench at this stage of his career, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Warriors to reunite with him this season.
The UCLA product is averaging 7.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies this season, shooting 55.6% from the field and 60.0% from three.
Pagaduan is certainly onto something with his latest buyout idea.
