Warriors legend Steph Curry floated to join historic 18-time NBA championship franchise

The Golden State Warriors have rounded out their roster over the last week, doing what they could to put together a competitive team. The final two roster spots went to veterans with playoff experience, which should provide some valuable depth.

However, early in the offseason, the roster moves were not exactly what fans wanted to see. For the most part, Golden State brought back familiar faces who have played for the organization over the last few years.

“The Warriors are officially running it back despite missing the playoffs last season. Golden State re-signed Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, and Gary Payton II this summer," NBA writer Jake Weinbach posted.

Because of this, some fans have questioned whether the Warriors are doing enough to support Steph Curry at this stage of his career. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins even urged Curry to consider leaving Golden State.

“Steph needs to be planning his exit strategy from the Golden State Warriors," said Perkins on 'NBA Today'. "Think about it, over the last four years, the Warriors have been in the play-in tournament. And this year, the way that the West is stacked up, they're gonna be a play-in tournament team again. You can't waste any more time hoping and banking that Mike Dunleavy is gonna get it right or is gonna make the moves that are needed to make sure that you can compete for a title, especially in a tough Western Conference.

While Curry is more than likely going to remain with the Warriors, he has also been floated as a potential fit with the Boston Celtics.

“I would love to see Steph Curry go to Boston," D’Angelo Russell said. "I just think he needs that type of help around him now. Who's taking the load off him in Golden State?"

As of right now, there is no clear second option who can consistently take pressure off Curry on the offensive end. Curry will likely have to remain the primary ball handler and offensive engine for Golden State. It is not like LeBron James in Philadelphia, where he can interchange point guard duties with other players on the court.

Curry would be a great fit with the Celtics, but the likelihood of a move remains extremely small. The four-time NBA champion has been loyal to the organization that drafted him and has spent his entire career in Golden State. Boston could be an intriguing place for Curry to finish his career, but whether he would actually be willing to leave the Warriors remains a major question.
