The Golden State Warriors have no choice but to make roster cuts before they begin their championship quest on Oct. 21 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
To ensure that they’re ready to go for opening night, the Dubs cut ties with Stephen Curry’s brother ahead of arguably the most highly anticipated season-opening contest of the 2025-26 season.
“The Golden State Warriors have waived guards LJ Cryer and Seth Curry,” the franchise stated in a Saturday afternoon press release. “Curry, an 11-year NBA veteran who signed with Golden State on Oct. 1, did not appear in a preseason game with the team. Golden State’s roster now stands at 17 points.”
The Warriors made headlines on Oct. 1 by uniting their four-time NBA champion point guard with his talented younger sibling.
While Seth may not be a household name in the big leagues, his remarkable track record as a perimeter shooter suggests he deserves far more recognition.
For his career, the Duke product averages 10.0 points per contest on 47.1% field goal shooting and 43.3% three-point shooting.
Curry led the league in three-point shooting efficiency a season ago, connecting on 45.6% of his triples with the Charlotte Hornets in Year 12.
However, due to financial flexibility reasons, Golden State was forced to waive the 33-year-old sharpshooting veteran after the preseason.
According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, though, the Dubs are expected to re-sign Curry at some point during the regular season when they have more room to do so.
