Vivek Ramaswamy won’t serve as co-leader in Trump’s DOGE initiative

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is out as the co-leader of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, according to a spokesperson for the initiative. 

“Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping us create DOGE,” Anna Kelly, a spokesperson for DOGE, said in a statement to the Associated Press. 

Kelly cited Ramaswamy’s interest in running for governor of Ohio as the reason he’s departing the committee tasked with exploring ways to trim the size of the federal government.

“He intends to run for elected office soon, which requires him to remain outside of DOGE, based on the structure that we announced today,” she said. “We thank him immensely for his contributions over the last two months and expect him to play a vital role in making America great again.”
