King Charles III Will Support Any Investigation Into Brother Prince Andrew

Virginia Giuffre's loved ones are speaking out after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in the UK

"At last," Virginia's brothers Sky Roberts and Danny Wilson, as well as their wives Amanda Roberts and Lanette Wilson, shared in a Feb. 19 statement obtained by MS NOW. "Today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty."

Andrew was taken into custody amid ongoing controversy over his alleged connection to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. (He's denied all allegations of wrongdoing.)

"On behalf of our sister, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, we extend our gratitude to the UK's Thames Valley Police for their investigation and arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor," the family of Virginia, who passed away in April, continued. "He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you."

Police confirmed Feb. 19 that Andrew—whom, along with Epstein, Giuffre had accused of sexual abuse—had been taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Although authorities said they would not identify the man arrested, King Charles III confirmed that his younger brother's legal troubles, while expressing his support for the decision.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," the royal said in a statement, obtained by Sky News. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."

Andrew's arrest comes 10 months after Giuffre—who was among the most prominent victims to speak out about alleged abuse she faced at the hands of Epstein—had died by suicide at age 41. She alleged that she had been trafficked by the disgraced financier to Andrew when she was 17.

In 2021, she filed a federal sexual abuse lawsuit against Andrew, in which she accused him of committing battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. After a judge rejected his motion to dismiss the case, Andrew and Giuffre settled.

Following her death, Giuffre's family emphasized that they would continue advocating for other victims on her behalf.

"We know Virginia was not just a bright light to us but to many," Amanda wrote on Facebook in May. "The lives she touched, the strength, and the fight she has given us will live with us always. Though our family and many are experiencing an immeasurable sense of grief, we know that this will make us stronger—that is what Virginia would have wanted."
