Liverpool returned from the October international break with a 2-1 home loss to arch rivals Manchester United.
Cody Gakpo's late goal set up a tense finale for Arne Slot's hosts but their losing run now extends to four defeats across all competitions.
A disjointed Liverpool performance only sharpened the focus on Slot's system as his big-money signings struggled, and Alexander Isak managed just one attempt on target, with Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ektike introduced late on.
Gakpo twice hit the post, with one 'big chance' [as per FotMob] missed by the Dutchman, and captain Virgil van Dijk admitted small changes are needed to address the current form slump.
"We conceded a sloppy second goal. We worked hard to get back into the game and created great opportunities to score the winner, but if you concede a second goal like that, it's disappointing," as per BBC Sport.

"If you look at the game as a whole, we were far too rushed. They were very patient and didn't press high, but they didn't let us on the ball. We still created many opportunities to score but the reality is we lost.
"We have to stick together, not just us as players, but as a club and the fans who want us to win."
Liverpool's demanding schedule continues in midweek, with a UEFA Champions League trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on October 22, after one win from their opening two games in Europe, followed by an EPL trip to Brentford on October 25.
