The day that began as one dominated by a Dodgers pitcher ended up turning into the Vinnie Pasquantino show. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger recorded two hits and drove in five runs to lead the Royals to a much-needed 9–5 win on Saturday.
With the win, the Royals finally snapped their nasty home losing streak, which had reached 11 games. Kansas City still sits fourth in the American League Central standings at 39-44. The loss dropped the Dodgers to 52-32 on the season.

Pasquantino’s offensive breakout began in the bottom of the fifth inning when he clubbed his 12th home run of the season, a three-run shot that put the Royals up 6-0. In his very next at-bat, Pasquantino doubled to right field, scoring Bobby Witt Jr. and Jonathan India. A Salvador Perez RBI later in the inning pushed the lead to 9–1 after seven.
The Dodgers attempted a rally in the ninth, scoring four runs, but it wasn’t enough. Sam Long finally retired the 27th batter to secure the Royals' victory.
Shohei Ohtani made his third start of the 2025 season on the mound. After pitching just one inning in each of his first two outings, he was able to record six outs this time around. Ohtani finished with two innings pitched, allowing one hit, striking out one, and walking one. He threw 27 pitches in the appearance.
Seth Lugo picked up the win for Kansas City, improving to 5–5 on the season. He tossed 5.2 scoreless innings and struck out eight batters.
